Ryan Mason has paid a tribute to the ‘special’ Harry Kane following Tottenham Hotspur’s victory this afternoon.
Spurs kicked off the new year in style by thumping Leeds United 3-0 in North London.
Kane got the rout underway with a penalty on 29 minutes, before turning provider to set up Son Heung-min shortly before the break.
In doing so, the 27-year-old now has 17 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this season, meaning he has been directly involved in 31 goals in 24 outings.
If he stays fit, this could be the striker’s best season for the Lilywhites which, when you consider how lethal he has been in recent years, is quite an endorsement.
Kane has been receiving plenty of credit and praise this season, but his former Tottenham team-mate still isn’t sure people really understand how good he is.
And Mason might have a point.
Before this season, Kane was an out-and-out number nine and one of the world’s best, but Jose Mourinho has developed his game and tweaked it to help him become a better playmaker, too.
The truth is that the England international just keeps getting better and better – and there still might be levels that he hasn’t reached yet.
