Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier was in poor form again when his side played against Crystal Palace.

Serge Aurier’s poor performance for Tottenham Hotspur against Crystal Palace mean further questions need to be asked about the right-back.

Aurier was brought to Spurs from PSG in the summer for a fee of £23 million, as reported by the London Evening Standard, and while he shown flashes of quality, he has also been frustratingly inconsistent.

Aurier has a tendency to be very rash, and must start finding a way to minimise the errors he is making within games.

Aurier has great athleticism, and has proven to be an attacking weapon, but all his worst attributes were on display against Palace.

Although Spurs picked up a 1-0 victory in the contest, Aurier’s concentration levels appeared to wane throughout the fixture.

The full-back made three foul throws during the contest, and also wasted numerous opportunities to cross the ball to a teammate, when well placed.

With competition for places at right-back so fierce at Tottenham, Aurier’s position could now be under threat.

Kieran Trippier remains a much more solid option at right-back, and should now be considered Spurs’ undisputed number one in the position.

And unless Aurier stops producing such error-filled performances, then serious questions need to be asked by Pochettino about whether he is ready to perform a key role to his side.
