
Newcastle United fans have praised Jamal Lewis for his performance against Newport County, while his teammates struggled.
Newcastle only just about made it through against their lower league opponents last night, with Steve Bruce’s side often struggling to show their best form.
Many of Newcastle’s players did not put in performances which did themselves much credit.
But Lewis did at least continue his good form since moving to St. James’ Park.
Lewis has firmly established himself as first choice full-back at Newcastle now, with his attacking intent clear to see.
Unfortunately for Lewis for all the positivity around his performance, frustrations are still growing around St. James’ Park.
Newcastle looked excellent against West Ham United on opening day, but they have been poor since – and their style of play continues to get criticised.
Newcastle did, at least, make it through yesterday, and they will now wait to find out their opponents in the quarter-final draw later this evening.
