Southampton defender Tino Livramento prefers to sign for Newcastle United despite Chelsea making moves to re-sign him.

Newcastle United still have hope of signing Tino Livramento as he prefers them over a return to Chelsea.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Chelsea are making moves to sign Livramento this summer.

The Mail reported earlier this week that Chelsea were in talks over a £38million deal to re-sign Livramento and loan him back to Southampton.

Chelsea sold Livramento to Southampton for just £5million in 2021 but seemingly want him back in a big-money move.

However, Livramento isn’t all that interested.

It’s stated that joining Chelsea and going out on loan holds little appeal to the right back.

Livramento left Chelsea in the first place to go and play first-team football rather than battle with Reece James.

Well, Livramento would now face up to battling James as well as new right back Malo Gusto, putting him right back to square one.

Livramento is therefore understood to fancy a move to Newcastle United instead, seemingly ready to leave Chelsea disappointed.

Newcastle United still have hope of Tino Livramento deal

Newcastle have been heavily linked with Livramento of late.

The Telegraph claimed last week that Newcastle were closing in on a £15million deal for Livramento.

The Chronicle even added that winger Ryan Fraser was likely to move in the opposite direction.

It turns out that Southampton want much more than £15million for Livramento though and The Telegraph have since added that a deal has stalled.

Newcastle will now hope to get the move progressing once again though with Livramento clearly fancying the switch.

Hailed as a ‘serious player’ by ex-Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, Livramento has shown huge potential with Southampton.

Now back from a major injury, Livramento will hope to kick on again – and he could end up doing it with Newcastle.
