Harry Redknapp has suggested in The Sun that Tottenham Hotspur should make a move for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

The former Tottenham manager worked with Bale at the North London club, and he rates the Wales international winger highly.

Redknapp believes that if the 31-year-old joins Jose Mourinho’s side this summer, then he will make Tottenham contenders for the Premier League title.

Redknapp wrote in The Sun: “Of the possible destinations, if Bale went back to Tottenham to team up with an already lively frontline you could see Spurs do some serious damage. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Bale.

“If it were my call, I’d throw all four of them on together and step back to watch lift-off. Bale could change Tottenham from European contenders to Premier League title challengers.

“He would give everyone a lift. And when I think of Dele playing the supporting role behind those three it makes my skin tingle. Dele plateaued over the last few seasons — but has shown some signs of starting to get back to his best.

“It was always likely to happen to him because he was so young when he burst on to the scene. But Spurs need reinvigorating — and Bale would do just that.”

Unlikely return to Tottenham Hotspur?

Bale joined Madrid from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, and the 31-year-old is still loved and adored by the Premier League club’s fans.

The Wales international will certainly make Spurs a much better team, but it is hard to see him move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Madrid are likely to ask for a sizeable transfer fee, and Spurs may also struggle to meet Bale’s wage demands.

According to The Times, Bale earns £30 million per year before tax at Madrid, and it is hard to see Tottenham match that salary.

Tottenham will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
