Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about N’Golo Kante’s future as his Chelsea contract runs down.
The midfielder has been one of the very best midfielders in the Premier League over the past decade or so, but at the age of 31, there’s a feeling that he’s past his best, especially with a questionable injury record in recent years.
Romano says that there are serious chances for the ‘amazing‘ midfielder to leave Chelsea amid links to Arsenal, but the journalist does state that there haven’t been any negotiations between Chelsea and Arsenal to this point.

Kante could leave
Romano shared what he knows about Kante.
“The feeling is that they are starting a new era. So what happened with N’Golo Kante? At the moment there is no agreement and the feeling internally is that there are very good chances to see the situation continue like this in the next weeks. The parties are very far apart in negotiations for Kante’s new deal. There are serious chances for Kante to leave Chelsea as a free agent,” Romano said.
“N’Golo Kante is happy in London, he would love to stay at Chelsea, but at the moment it’s complicated, but Rudiger also wanted to stay at Chelsea, so let’s see what happens. It’s a complicated situation.”
“It’s important to say that we have many rumours about Arsenal being ready to make a proposal for Kante, I can tell you that there were never negotiations between Arsenal and Chelsea for Kante, no approach, no bid.”
Chance to stay in London
Romano says that Kante is very happy in London, and a move to Arsenal would give him the chance to stay in the English capital.
Yes, there is a slight taboo about crossing the London divide, but we’ve seen so many players swap Chelsea for Arsenal and vice versa in recent years.
Indeed, David Luiz, Petr Cech, Willian and Olivier Giroud have broken down that barrier, and now Kante could be the next in line if Arsenal truly want him.
In order for that to happen, the Gunners need to initiate contact, but with Kante’s contract talks at a standstill there’s a chance he’ll be on the market quite soon.
