Tottenham Hotspur were claimed by The Independent in January to be leading the chase for prolific Argentine striker Sebastian Driussi.

The 21-year-old is River Plate’s latest star, and has 10 goals in his last 15 club games.

Now it appears two Serie A sides are stealing a march on the North London club, by stepping up their own interest.

Tuttomercatoweb report both Inter Milan and Sampdoria have sent representatives to Argentina to put together a dossier on the player, with each side considering a summer move.

River have an upcoming game against Lanus in which Driussi is expected to start.

Driussi was quoted by TMW in January stating he was happy to stay at River, but past history has shown the Argentine giants will deal at the right price.

Tottenham have been linked with the striker dating back to 2014 when Mauricio Pochettino took over, with The Mirror reporting their interest.

Then a teenager, the striker has since blossomed into a first team regular, and interest from the Serie A duo could prompt Tottenham to step up their own pursuit of his signature.
