Celtic supporters have waited for some time to stick the boot into their rivals

Celtic fans have endured a frustrating season, but tonight they were handed a long-waited opportunity to stick the boot into their rivals.
A shock 2-0 win for Ross County against Neil Lennon’s men looked to have left Rangers with a relatively simple path to the trophy, but they contrived to throw it away at the Simple Digital Arena in Paisley this evening.
Despite taking an early lead through Connor Goldson, Rangers fell 3-2 against Jim Goodwin’s side. They looked to have taken the game to extra time thanks to a late Steven Davis equaliser, but Conor McCarthy stunned Steven Gerrard’s men with a dramatic winner two minutes into injury time.
That leaves the league leaders still waiting for their first trophy under Gerrard, while the Saints go through to the semi-finals alongside Hibs, Livingston and St Johnstone.
After months on the receiving end of mocking tweets from rival fans, Celtic supporters revelled in the disastrous Rangers result.
The cup action continues this weekend, with Celtic taking on Hearts in Sunday’s Scottish Cup Final.
