Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has told Cadena SER that ‘you never know’ when asked if he could return to Real Madrid.
Spurs swooped over the summer to sign Reguilon, as they looked to add a new, more attack-minded left back to Jose Mourinho’s squad.
Tottenham paid around £25million to sign Reguilon, in what appeared to be a bargain move given his excellent displays on loan at Sevilla last season.
The problem for Spurs is that they were forced to include a buy-back clause in the deal, meaning Real can take Reguilon back for around £15million more.
Spurs may have some hope given that Real already have Marcelo and Ferland Mendy, but Calciomercato reported last month that Real still see Reguilon as their long-term left back.
Spurs will have to be on alert for Real paying that buy-back clause, especially as Reguilon is showing impressive form in the early stages of his Tottenham career.

Now, Reguilon has noted that Madrid is still his home, and he couldn’t entirely rule out heading back there because of that clause.
Reguilon noted that he didn’t speak to boss Zinedine Zidane about the move, and didn’t ask for any explanations as he moved on to Tottenham.
“Madrid is my home and where I grew up,” said Reguilon. “In the future you never know but the possibility is there. I didn’t speak to the boss, it was more with the club. I know what they think of me, I had to take a decision. Time will tell. I didn’t ask for explanations,” he added.
