Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the Gunners wanted to sign Sergio Ramos.
What’s the story?
Ramos has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, but it is being reported that he had an offer from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The Mirror have reported on their live blog (5:35pm, July 8, 2021) that Ramos snubbed Arsenal to join PSG.
Goal has also claimed that Arsenal wanted to sign the former Real Madrid central defender.
The Gunners reportedly made the 35-year-old four-time Champions League winner an offer of £15 million per season for two years.
Ramos turned it down, as the Gunners will not play in the Champions League.
What are Arsenal fans saying?
Arsenal fans are not convinced that the club were seriously interested in Ramos.
Well, some of them anyway.
As you can see from the tweets below, (some) Arsenal fans think that the Gunners are simply being ‘used’.
The Arsenal supporters are happy for that, as they think that this shows just how big a club they are despite their recent struggles.
The North London club have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and will not even play in the Europa League next season.
Yet, Arsenal are one of the best supported clubs on the planet and are a global brand.
