Sergio Busquets has detailed his reasoning behind joining Inter Miami this summer, with the club officially announcing the transfer tonight.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the FC Barcelona legend revealed that he was sold on the project and that he was impressed with the vision and their facilities having trained at Inter Miami’s training grounds last summer with the La Liga giants.

Busquets is one of three former Barcelona players expected to join Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi being unveiled tonight as the biggest arrival in MLS history with Jordi Alba also expected to complete a move to Florida later this month.

Indeed, the Spanish international could be one of the best signings Inter Miami make since their inception. And the midfielder is seemingly excited to get started at his new club. Busquets said: “This is a special and exciting opportunity that I’m very excited to take.

“I’m looking forward to this next step in my career with Inter Miami. I was impressed by the Club when I came with Barcelona last year and now I’m happy and ready to represent the Club myself. I can’t wait to help bring the success that this ambitious Club strives for.”

Inter Miami have been searching for superstar signings ever since their formation. And with Messi now in the building and Busquets following close behind, the duo could be key in guiding Tata Martino to glory in the next six to 18 months.

Indeed, whilst Messi will steal all the headlines, Busquets could easily become just as important for Inter Miami as the Argentine superstar, with the midfielder often credited for being the clue behind Spain and Barcelona’s best-ever sides.
