Tottenham Hotspur will face ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry tonight.
Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has told Sky Sports that he isn’t really bothered whether Tottenham Hotspur fans boo him tonight or not.
The Champions League is back once again tonight, and one of the biggest games of the round will see Bayern head to North London to take on Spurs.
With Olympiacos and Crvena Zvezda also in their group, Bayern and Spurs are unsurprisingly being touted as the teams to beat in the group, with a spot in the last 16 up for grabs.
Tottenham didn’t make a great start as they through away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Olympiacos, and they need a big response tonight, which will involve keeping Gnabry quiet.
The 24-year-old winger spent five years with Arsenal before heading back to Germany with Werder Bremen in 2016, and he has become a star with Bayern having hit 13 goals and nine assists last season.
With nine goals in 10 outings for Germany too, Gnabry is a major threat, and given his stint with Arsenal, it wouldn’t be a great surprise to see hear Spurs fans give him pelters to try and affect his game.
Gnabry has now responded to that suggestion, claiming that he’s just motivated to win for Bayern rather than anything to do with Arsenal, and really isn’t bothered what the Spurs fans do, whether they boo him or not.
“I’m motivated in any game that I play, and I just want to win,” said Gnabry. “Of course, I know the history, with me having played for Arsenal. It’s in my mind, but it’s important for us to win, so either way I’m giving 100 per cent.”
“To be honest, I’m not really bothered about it. Yes, I’ve played for Arsenal, but this is a new game, I’m here with Bayern Munich now, and I’m just going to give my best, either way the reaction of any crowd,” he added.
