Tottenham Hotspur’s inability to sign anyone over the summer means there are already plenty of rumours about their potential January transfer targets.

Spurs are already being linked with a number of players ahead of January, such as Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell and Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Now, another central defender is being linked with a move to North London, despite the fact that Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez at his disposal.

The Mirror report that Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is keen on an exit, and Pochettino allegedly rates him highly having initially starred with his former club Espanyol.

A deal between United and Spurs – two rivals for the top four – seems unlikely, but one man would surely be happy with a deal – Tottenham defender Serge Aurier.

The right back, who starred against Inter Milan this evening, has played with Bailly on a number of occasions for the Ivory Coast, and reuniting could potentially help get the best out of Aurier.

Ivory Coast's squad (back L-R) midfielder Franck Kessie, forward Wilfried Bony, defender Wilfried Kanon, defender Eric Bailly, forward Wilfred Zaha, (L-R) midfielder Cheick Doukoure,...

Aurier hasn’t always impressed since his move from Paris Saint-Germain, but pairing him up with Bailly again may just give Pochettino greater options in his back line.

The pair were seen hugging and talking to each other after Spurs’ defeat at Manchester United last season, and Aurier would no doubt love to see his international teammate join him in North London – but it would take a real shock deal to give him that reunion.
