Serge Aurier has been one of the Tottenham Hotspur players who has come under serious fire from supporters this season.
Serge Aurier has stated on Instagram that Tottenham are going to ‘fight together’ but only with the help of ‘real fans’ following a disastrous week for the club.
Right-back Aurier was part of that Spurs team that got smacked 7-2 at the hands of Bayern Munich, and amongst their troubles this season, he has been a player who has been much-criticised for performances.
He missed the defeat to Brighton at the weekend because he was serving a ban, but he will be back after the international break, as the fans will be hoping for a change in performance and attitude.
This was the rally-cry which Aurier sent from his personal Instagram account as he urged everyone to get together and fight for the same cause:
The international break has now kicked in as players will join up with their respective countries as they bid to get some confidence back into their system.
This two-week break has perhaps come at a good time for the North London club because it’ll allow the players to keep their mind off club matters, and for Pochettino to assess so he can try to put things right.
After the international break, Spurs host bottom-of-the-table Watford before they continue their Champions League campaign by taking on Red Star Belgrade in front of their own fans.
That defeat to Bayern will linger on in the minds of the players and the fans until they respond with a number of statement-like performances.
