Kyle Walker-Peters has a big future, according to his Tottenham Hotspur team-mate.
Speaking to Tottenham Hotspur’s matchday program, via Football London, Serge Aurier has claimed that team-mate Kyle Walker-Peters has a “great future” ahead of him.
The 20-year-old broke into the Tottenham first team this season and made his Premier League debut in the win at Newcastle on the first day of the season.
Walker-Peters has since gone on to make one more top-flight appearance – a nine-minute cameo away to Huddersfield Town – but the early signs are that he could be a big player for Spurs in the future.
One reason for the right-back’s lack of games recently has been the competition, with Aurier himself and Kieran Trippier seemingly competing with one another for the role.
Nevertheless, the former Paris Saint-Germain defender, a £23 million summer signing, is impressed with both of his team-mates, but believes Walker-Peters “definitely” has the potential to succeed at Spurs.
“They’re both great players. Obviously Kyle is a much younger player, but I think he shows real desire and he has a great future ahead of him,” he told Spurs’ matchday programme.
“He’s definitely got the qualities to succeed at this level and has a great mentality to go with it.”
Walker-Peters certainly has a bright future in football but you wonder whether manager Mauricio Pochettino should loan him out in January.
Whether it’s right-back or left-back, the youngster isn’t going to play heavily in the second half of the season unless Tottenham are hit with a serious injury crisis, and six months of regular football could do him the world of good.
