The Newcastle United-owned ace is currently on loan at Fulham.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (R) of Serbia reacts during the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier between Serbia and Georgia at stadium Rajko Mitic on October 9, 2017 in Belgrade.

Serbian national team boss Mladen Krstajic spoke to reporters after his side’s 2-0 friendly win over Nigeria last night, and raved about the quality of Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, suggesting that he will go on to play for a ‘bigger and better’ team, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

The 23-year-old joined the the Toon from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £14.5 million, but he struggled to establish himself on Tyneside, scoring just 17 goals in 72 appearances in all competitions.

Aleksandar Mitrovic arrives prior to the Premier League match between Newcastle United and AFC Bournemouth at St. James Park on November 4, 2017 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

The Serbia international join Fulham on loan on transfer deadline day in January, however, and has been nothing short of a revelation for the Cottagers, scoring seven goals in nine outings thus far.

Mitrovic’s international manager Mladen Krstajic raved about his quality, when speaking to reporters last night, and tipped him to go on to bigger and better things, as quoted by the Evening Standard:

Mladen Krstajic, manager of Serbia looks on during the International Friendly match between Nigeria and Serbia at The Hive on March 27, 2018 in Barnet, England.

“Mitrovic did a very good thing in choosing to come to Fulham. I’m sure that after the loan he will move to an even bigger, better club where he can do much better.”

Magpies fans will be left wondering why the 23-year-old failed to produce the kind of form that he is showing at Craven Cottage during his time at St James’ Park, especially with their side’s current struggles in front of goal.

Perhaps Mitrovic deserves a little more time to prove himself at Newcastle, because if he goes on to be a success at one of Europe’s bigger clubs, the Toon really will be kicking themselves.
