Alistair Bruce-Ball has claimed that Everton fans went ‘wild’ after they were shown a replay of a challenge from Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris on Richarlison on Sunday, as he told BBC Sport.
Everton and Tottenham recorded a goalless draw at Goodison Park, but it wasn’t short of its controversial moments.
In the second half, Lloris was adjudged to have brought down Richarlison in the penalty area as he tried to go past him.
The on-field referee pointed to the spot straightaway and gave a spot-kick.
But he was then informed by VAR to look at a replay, which he did, and then overturned his original call.
The replay was shown on the big screen at Goodison and commentator Bruce-Ball shared that the home fans weren’t having any of it.
“The Everton fans have just seen a replay of it on the big screen and that has sent them wild,” said Bruce-Ball.
“They’ve had one look at it, it’s gone up on the screen, that doesn’t help the referee here, they don’t think it’s a penalty.”

It seems as though the referee, after looking at the replay, felt that there was a slight touch on the ball from Lloris.
And that’s what seemingly, pardon the pun, saved him from giving away a crucial penalty.
In the end, both teams walked away with a point, with Everton stopping their losing streak and Spurs picking up a point in Antonio Conte’s first Premier League game in charge of the club.
