What a stupidly-good footballer Diogo Jota is blossoming into at Liverpool.
Well, he was already a brilliant player, hence why Michael Edwards spent £45 million on bringing him to Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers 18 months ago.
Eyebrows were raised when the Reds spent such a premium on somebody who had never really consistently made headlines at Molineux.
However, it has proven an absolute masterstroke by Edwards because, honestly, the Portugal international is well on his way to becoming world class under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Jota scored both goals on Thursday night as Liverpool beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium to advance into the final of the League Cup.
His second was a thing of beauty, running on to a long ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold before lobbing a helpless Aaron Ramsdale.
With Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah absent due to the Africa Cup of Nations, there was a lot of pressure on Jota to carry the goalscoring burden in their absence.
And you have to say, he has shouldered the responsibility brilliantly thus far.
Here’s how Chris Sutton reacted to his heroic double in North London last night.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Who needs Salah and Mane when you have Jota in this form. He has been a sensational signing. Jota the difference.”
At £45 million, Jota certainly cost a pretty penny but he could easily be worth double that amount in the very near future.
And remember, the former Wolves attacker, who has 14 goals in 27 outings across all competitions this season, is still only 25.
He’s going to get a lot better.
