Speculation is mounting that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign a Liverpool player.

Joe Gomez has struggled for regular football under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this season, following Ibrahima Konate’s arrival last year.

And according to 90 Min, Tottenham are among several Premier League teams interested in the central defender.

And if this happens, what a signing for Spurs.

Okay so he isn’t a regular under the German manager anymore.

However, that must not be mistaken as a sign that he’s a bad player because honestly, he’s anything but.

The Liverpool boss simply has better options and even Klopp himself has acknowledged that the former Charlton powerhouse is ‘sensational’.

In January of 2020, here’s what Klopp told the Reds’ official website about the reported Tottenham target.

He said: “He is a sensational footballer, which is good. He has outstanding speed, which helps us a lot to keep our last line high; he is a really good challenger; good in one-on-one situations; football-wise, I said already, good.”

And let’s be honest, the Lilywhites cannot afford to turn down a player like Gomez.

They might’ve hammered Everton 5-0 on Monday, but Antonio Conte’s side are never far away from a crisis and it usually stems from horrible defending.

Cristian Romero aside, Tottenham’s other centre-back options – Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Ben Davies – are relatively ordinary and someone like Gomez could improve that defence massively.
