The Reds missed the chance to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League by drawing 1-1 away to Fulham.
Spurs’ draw at Crystal Palace earlier in the day opened the door for the Premier League champions to establish daylight between themselves and the North Londoners, but ultimately it was an invitation that they had to decline.
But it could and would have been worse for Liverpool if not for Alisson.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, back in the first XI following two games out with an injury, posted a brilliant performance between the sticks, producing fine saves to keep out Ademola Lookman and Ivan Cavaleiro among others.
Here’s how Jurgen Klopp reacted to his goalkeeper’s display on the club’s official website: “You could see in one or two situations that he needs rhythm too, but in the key moments he was there. Sensational saves, obviously, but the goalkeeper on the other side had a pretty important job to do as well.”

Alisson had a bit of a point to prove after Caoimhin Kelleher posted a couple of brilliant performances in the South American’s absence.
But it just goes to show how superb Alisson is if he can spend a period on the sidelines – albeit only a fortnight – and still come back to be Liverpool’s most influential player.
Klopp’s side definitely dropped two points, but Alisson gained them one.
