Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has raved about his former Gunners teammate and Brazilian compatriot David Luiz in The Players’ Tribune.
Martinelli has said that former Chelsea central defender Luiz helped him a lot when they were at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old forward has been on the books of Arsenal since 2019.
Luiz moved to Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2019.
The Brazilian, who can also play in midfield, left the Gunners in the summer of 2021.
Luiz’s contract with Arsenal had run out, and the North London club decided to simply let him go.

Martinelli said: “I also got a lot of help from David Luiz, another sensational guy.”

Rising star
David Luiz is 35 now and is playing for Flamengo, but during his time at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, he was brilliant, and his Brazilian compatriot Gabriel Martinelli will aspire to have a similarly successful career with Arsenal.
Luiz won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League (twice) with Chelsea.
The Brazilian also won the Ligue 1 title twice with PSG, as well as the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2019-20.
Martinelli is a rising star at Arsenal, and he will hope to be just as successful as Luiz was in his career.
The 21-year-old will play for Brazil at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar, and perhaps the Arsenal youngster will end up becoming a world champion this year.
