James McFadden and Pat Bonner voiced their praise for David Turnbull’s role in Liel Abada scoring as Celtic beat Ferencvaros in the Europa League on BBC Sportsound (4/11, 21:23).
Abada struck the Bhoys’ third goal at the Groupama Arena as the Glasgow outfit won 3-2. Moving the Hoops within a point of second-place after Bayer Leverkusen beat Real Betis.
Ange Postecoglou’s side visit Leverkusen in their next group stage fixture on November 25 before hosting Betis on December 9. Knowing a win over either could see them go through.

Abada put Celtic on course to beat Ferencvaros with a precise far-post goal on 60-minutes. Meeting Kyogo Furuhashi’s threaded pass after Turnbull did well to win the ball back.
Turnbull had turned possession over, but responded instantly to regain play for Celtic near the halfway line. Starting a free-flowing attack involving Callum McGregor and Furuhashi that impressed McFadden, who said:
“That is a sensational goal. Turnbull works all the way back after losing the ball and just shows a bit of composure to play it inside to McGregor. He takes a brilliant touch before feeding it into Kyogo, who plays an unbelievable pass into Abada. What a team goal.”
Bonner was also full of praise for Turnbull’s role in Abada’s goal and Celtic’s third against Ferencvaros on Thursday night. With the former Bhoys goalkeeper adding:
“The technique from all of those involved in the goal, but in particular that hard graft from Turnbull initially to win the ball back. It’s sets up wonderfully.”

Turnbull delivers creative display in Celtic win over Ferencvaros
Turnbull delivered a creative display against Ferencvaros, with the Celtic midfielder also assisting Filipe Jota’s 23rd-minute strike.
The 22-year-old – making his 24th appearance of the season so far across all competitions – playing the ball on to the Benfica loanee, who cut inside and let rip from 25-yards out.
Turnbull has now assisted six goals and scored seven over his outings under Postecoglou since the Australian became Celtic’s manager. The Wishaw-born midfielder offered eight assists and scored nine in 39 outings last term following a £3.25m move from Motherwell.
