Sheffield Wednesday fans look on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrews (stadium) on September 27, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Two former Sheffield Wednesday players have posted on Twitter ahead of the Owls’ game against Millwall on Tuesday.

Wednesday go into it in a wretched run of form which has seen them win one of their last seven and left them 16th in the Championship.

Calls for head coach Carlos Carvalhal are growing by the week, but Jose Semedo and Chris Kirkland have urged Owls fans to back the Portuguese and his players against the Lions.

And Kirkland, his teammate of three years, followed up: “Good luck to @swfc tonight fantastic club,to all the great fans, get behind Carlos and the boys tonight they need ur support”.

Millwall travel to Sheffield 6 in search of their first away win all season – a run that spans eight matches across all competitions.

But their opponents’ plight is one of which Wednesday should be wary, given the Owls’ results against teams on similar bad runs this term.

Birmingham City ended a run of seven games without a win against Carvalhal’s men in late September, while Wednesday remain the only Championship side to be beaten by Bolton Wanderers after the Trotters followed up their August cup win with a league victory in October.
