Sevilla are reportedly considering a move to sign Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr with the Senegal World Cup star yet to make his Spurs debut – but selling him would be a mistake, judging by Harry Kane’s comments in Qatar.
Sarr, 21, was bought by Tottenham and mainly, Fabio Paratici, in the summer of 2021. He remained at Metz on loan last season – clocking up 59 senior outings for the French side. But after returning to Spurs in the summer, he is struggling.
The midfielder is yet to play a single minute for Tottenham’s first team. Now, Spanish site Mucho Deporte claim Sevilla are keen on signing Sarr and could move to land his signature permanently – with Spurs ready to sell for just £13m.
It would be incredibly harsh on Sarr to sell him without ever even giving him a proper chance under Conte. Surely, he deserves that – but also, Spurs would be making a mistake in cashing in on him, judging by Kane’s recent verdict.
“From what I see in training, a really talented player. Quite quiet, he just gets on with training,” Kane told an England press conference, at the World Cup. “He’s a good guy, he’s a really talented player with some great ability on the ball.”

Putting aside Kane’s comments momentarily, it would be very harsh for Spurs to sell Sarr – without ever giving him a chance to shine. Yes, it is difficult to give him game time, but he could have played against Forest in the Carabao Cup.
So, firstly, selling him without a first-team debut would be harsh. But judging by Kane’s comments, you would think he deserves a run out and Spurs should give him more of a chance. Certainly, Spurs have a talent on their hands.
Letting him go, without that chance and given the impression he has had on Kane, it would be a mistake for Paratici to sell him so soon. Especially, given Spurs would make a loss on him if they did cash in for a fee of £13million.
