Real Madrid are reportedly readying a mammoth bid for the Tottenham Hotspur star.
According to a report from the Sun, Real Madrid are readying a £50 million bid for Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier, and it might just be in Spurs’ best interest to sell the right-back.
The England international has really risen to prominence over the past few years, having joined Tottenham from Burnley in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of just £3.5 million.
He is set to turn 28 in September, however, so it could be argued that he only has a few years left before his powers begin to wane, so selling him to Madrid for £50 million would surely have to be classed as excellent business for the Lilywhites.
The Tottenham ace’s value is now at its absolute peak, and it isn’t as though Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t have any cover in the right-back position.
The Argentine brought Serge Aurier to the club last summer, and despite his inconsistent displays last season, he is still a top class performer.
At the age of just 25, he is still yet to reach his peak, and he could go on to be a real hit in north London.
Spurs have history of selling their players at peak value – just look at Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker, and sanctioning Trippier’s exit for £50 million would be no different.
Tottenham are interested in signing Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard, according to the Express, so that in itself could be a sign that Poch is planning for life without the England international.
