Glenn Hoddle was unhappy with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ‘selling himself’ during Tottenham’s North London derby defeat on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (26/09/21 at 5:25 pm).

The Tottenham legend was critical at how Hojbjerg defended the opening goal, which was scored by Emile Smith Rowe.

With the home team in possession of the ball, Hojbjerg left achers of space behind him, by trying to press Granit Xhaka.

But he laid the ball out first-time to Martin Odegaard, who then played the ball out wide to Bukayo Saka and he laid it on a plate for Smith Rowe to tap home.

What would have been even more frustrating for Spurs fans is that both Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele jogged back like they were tugging a truck.

Nonetheless, Hoddle wasn’t happy with the defensive side of Hojbjerg’s game during that goal, this is what he had to say about the £15 million player (Sky Sports).

“Suddenly, they have got a four v four, it’s too easy for them to get at this defence,” said Hoddle.

“As the ball comes across (to Saka), it’s a good finish from Smith Rowe. But if we analyse this, we have to look at Hojbjerg selling himself.

“He’s the last man in defence, look at the whole, the gap there and suddenly a four v four appears.”

That’s three London derbies on the bounce for Nuno Espirito Santo, three defeats and nine goals conceded.

Spurs are in an utter mess and if things continue in their current ways then there’s no way Nuno survives.

Not only are the results going against him, but the style of play is also being questioned.

And it was also pretty obvious over the summer that he wasn’t even first, second, third, fourth or even fifth choice to be the manager.
