‘Selling him has backfired’: Some Arsenal fans praise £18m man’s performance last night

Arsenal fans are well aware of what a spectacular Olivier Giroud goal looks like, well the Frenchman was at it again on Tuesday night.

This time the World Cup-winning forward scored a brilliant overhead kick for Chelsea, as they recorded a valuable 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

Whilst Giroud’s overhead strike isn’t in the same league as ‘the Scorpion’ goal, the Arsenal faithful were still impressed with what they saw from the 34-year-old yesterday.

Giroud will always be a marmite-like figure in North London, and given that he produced up and down performances in Arsenal’s colours, it is frustrating for some of their fans to now see him doing well across London.

It has been three years since Giroud made an £18 million switch from Arsenal to Chelsea (Sky Sports).

And whilst those in blue haven’t lifted a Premier League title since then, they did beat the Gunners in a Europa League final in 2019, with none other than Giroud getting on the scoresheet.

Fast forward to today, and the one-time Arsenal favourite is showing his former club what they are missing out on.

But a number of Arsenal supporters issued classy responses to his goal and performance for Chelsea yesterday:
