Kondogbia is a talented player who has represented France at senior level, but trading in Dier to sign him and make a big profit would not be a clever move for Spurs.

Unlike Kondogbia he can play in more than one position, and his friendship with Spurs’ top talent Dele Alli should not be underestimated when it comes to keeping his England teammate around.
Tottenham’s recent success has been built on stability, and while selling Kyle Walker this summer was accepted by fans through gritted teeth, if Spurs cashed in on a second key player in one transfer window there would be serious grumblings.
Kondogbia could step up and settle in like Victor Wanyama has done, or he could flop like Moussa Sissoko.
It is a risk Spurs simply do not have to take, and they should resist any temptation to make the moves.
