With the January transfer window rapidly approaching there is much speculation regarding possible arrivals and departures at Newcastle United.

One player whose time at St James’ Park could be coming to a close is Mohamed Diame, with the midfielder the subject of interest from Turkish clubs Goztepe and Sivasspor, as reported by The Sun.

Diame helped Newcastle to earn promotion from the Championship last season but his performances when called upon in the Premier League this campaign have frequently been underwhelming.

Although he is a player who possesses much Premier League experience – he is closing in on his 200th appearance in the division – Diame has done little this season to suggest that he is a player who can make a significant contribution in the club’s battle to stay in the Premier League.

Newcastle would probably only get a small fee if they were to sell Diame – the report indicates he could move for £2.5 million – but that money could still be put towards bringing in a more reliable creative midfielder.

Diame’s current Newcastle contract expires in the summer of 2019, so this certainly represents a good opportunity to sell him.
