Everton are reportedly keen on signing the Tottenham Hotspur ace.
According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham could sell Danny Rose to Everton this summer, with a potential £40 million move to Goodison Park being touted for the England international.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the left-back pecking order at Spurs over the past year or so, with Ben Davies now considered to be Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice left-back.
Rose is still one of the best left sided defenders in the game, though, and selling him to Everton could be a huge mistake for Tottenham, regardless of the reported £40 million that they might receive for his services.
Many Spurs fans will admit that the England international is far superior to Davies, and it seems as though the Welshman has only gained a regular starting berth because of the disparaging remarks made by Rose regarding the club’s transfer policy.
This summer will be a vitally important one for the Lilywhites, as they look to make the step up to the next level, and it could be argued that selling Rose to Everton would be a real backwards step for them.
Davies is a solid operator, of that there is no doubt, but it is hard to make a case for the Welshman being an elite performer, and it is very doubtful that he would get into the starting XI of any of the top six clubs in the Premier League.
Tottenham might have to sell in order to buy this summer, but Rose should absolutely not be one of the players who are sacrificed.
