The Derby striker has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With the January transfer window edging ever closer speculation is rife about potential moves and it appears that Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers are seeking some extra attacking firepower to aid their quest for promotion.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 3rd December 2017; page 65), Wolves are interested in signing Derby County striker Chris Martin.
Wolves’ main striker Leo Bonatini has been hugely impressive this season as he has scored eleven goals in the Championship, while wingers Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro have weighed in with nine and six goals respectively.

However, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo feels that an additional attacking option is required and is targeting Martin, with the 29-year-old possessing extensive experience of Championship football.
Derby, who are in sixth place, are aiming for promotion themselves and, given that they have the impressive Matej Vydra at their disposal, losing Martin is a risk that they can afford to take.
Last season Derby loaned Martin out to Fulham and were left to regret the decision as he scored ten goals in the Championship and they were unable to recall him.

Now, though, Derby are in a much stronger position, and with the likes of Sam Winnall and David Nugent also capable of finding the net, it is unlikely that Martin would be sorely missed if he does depart.
Despite the fact that he has only scored one goal in 18 Championship appearances for Wolves this season, Martin is capable of making a significant impact for Wolves if the deal does go ahead.
He has, for instance, previously registered tallies of 20 and 18 goals in Championship seasons.
This could, then, be a deal that suits both parties as Derby could cope without Martin, while he could strengthen Wolves.
