Odsonne Edouard’s penalty failed to impress Neil McCann
Odsonne Edouard’s goal in today’s Scottish Cup Final has been condemned by Neil McCann.
Edouard doubled his side’s advantage with a cheeky ‘Panenka’ from the spot, handing Robbie Neilson’s side a mountain to climb in the second period at Hampden.
Craig Gordon, who made 242 appearances for Celtic before returning to Tynecastle, took umbrage with the manner of Edouard’s finish and reacted by throwing the ball in the direction of his one-time team-mate
The incident didn’t go down well with former Hearts and Rangers winger McCann.
Covering the action for BBC Sportsound, McCann said: “I can understand (Gordon’s) reaction. I think that’s pretty disrespectful.
“It’s come off for him and it looks brilliant. It’s just selfish. I didn’t like it. It’s not because Celtic have gone two-nil up. That’s his team-mate and that’s why Craig’s reacted like that.
“That was a little bit cheeky.”
Gordon was booked for throwing the ball in Edouard’s direction, and the keeper won’t be the only player in maroon feeling the frustration after that first period.
Neil Lennon’s side took a one-nil lead after 19 minutes thanks to a superb strike from Ryan Christie, before Edouard added the second 10 minutes later.
