Mohamed Salah has been speaking to Geoff Shreeves about his contract situation at Liverpool, as negotiations continue between all parties.
What’s the story?
Well, as you’ve surely heard, the 29-year-old becomes a free agent in June 2023, and talks over a new deal have stalled due to salary demands (The Guardian).
If Liverpool cannot agree fresh terms with Salah soon, then this summer will be their last chance to sell their talisman for cash, or they risk losing him for nothing in 2023.
Ahead of a massive game against Manchester City on Sunday, the Egyptian has remained coy on the topic, telling Sky Sports: “I can’t really go deep in the contract now, as it’s a really sensitive situation. The team need to win, I can’t just go in the news and talk about my contract. I can’t be selfish now.”
Clearly, Salah doesn’t want to openly discuss the situation, which is probably for the best.
This Sunday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium could well turn out to be a title decider, so everyone at Anfield should be focused on that.
Liverpool fans will appreciate Mohamed Salah comments

In our view, Liverpool fans will appreciate Salah putting the team before himself during his interview with Sky Sports.
The ex-Chelsea man was keen to stress that he doesn’t want to be selfish and discuss his personal situation with so much at stake in Sunday’s game.
Liverpool fans, even those who may feel Salah is being greedy, disrespectful or whatever they want to call it, will be pleased to hear that, as he clearly realises the significance of the occasion.

If that’s how he feels, you can be sure the rest of the Liverpool squad are also in full understanding of how important Sunday’s game is.
Hopefully, Salah can fire the Reds to all three points, and distract people from the contract situation for a bit.
