Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Serge Aurier and Steven Bergwijn will be back in his Tottenham Hotspur squad this evening.
Aurier and Bergwijn were left out of Spurs’s match day squad on Monday, after suffering knocks ahead of the Lilywhites’ clash with Burnley.
There were concerns that Aurier and Bergwijn could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines when the injury news first came out.
But it seems that they have recovered quickly, and Mourinho has hinted that they both could feature against Antwerp later.
“Serge is fine, Stevie is fine, selected too,” Mourinho revealed.
“Two very good players and great problems. Serge Aurier or Matt Doherty? Amazing problem. Or Steven Bergwijn or Lucas? Amazing problem.”
Aurier may actually have crept ahead of Matt Doherty in the battle to land Tottenham’s right-back spot at this moment in time.
Aurier has shown good form over the first few weeks of the season, while Doherty still seems to be adjusting to his new teammates.
Bergwijn, on the other hand, has generally been used as a rotational player so far this term.
With Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale at the club, Bergwijn faces real competition for a place in Tottenham’s team, and he will be keen to make an impact if he does start tonight.
