Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were on Milan Skriniar watch last night.
The Inter Milan defender was in action for his native Slovakia in a Euro 2021 playoff away to Northern Ireland.
And despite a late error from the Tottenham target, the visitors wound up booking their ticket to the competition next summer after extra time.
Skriniar was heavily linked with a move to North London this past summer and ESPN reported last week that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was still keen ahead of the January transfer window.
Despite scoring an unfortunate own goal, the 25-year-old, who diverted a cross into the roof of his own net on 88 minutes, was arguably the best player on the pitch for the previous 87 minutes.
Here’s how Tottenham fans reacted to his performance on Twitter last night:
Mourinho wound up signing Joe Rodon after failing in his attempts to sign Skriniar, but it’s interesting that the Portuguese coach reportedly remains keen.
And let’s face it, an own goal last night – which could’ve happened to any defender – is unlikely to deter the Lilywhites if they were genuinely keen in the first place.
