Garth Crooks has included Arsenal midfielder Jorginho in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week for his performance against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League at the weekend.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward was hugely impressed by Jorginho, who joined Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window for £12 million (Sky Sports).
The Italy international played well in the middle of the park and was also key in one of the goals that Arsenal scored.
The midfielder helped the Gunners to an important win against the Villans.
BBC Sport pundit Crooks has admitted that he was wrong about Jorginho, who, he thinks, is starting to get back to his best now.
Praise for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “I wasn’t entirely sure about the merits of his signing. Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are having a good season and Jorginho seemed to have lost whatever it was he had at Chelsea.
“However, I saw signs against Manchester City in midweek that he was getting the taste for the big games again.

“His performance against Aston Villa was biting, while his style of play complements the artistry of Martin Odegaard.
“The Italy international’s 93rd-minute strike may have gone down as an own goal, but he won’t give a monkey’s about that.”
Important player
In our view, Jorginho is an important player for Arsenal and is proving to be a very good signing for the Gunners.
The midfielder is a hugely experienced player who won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea and the Euro 2020 finals with Italy.
Arsenal are a better team with Jorginho in it.
The Gunners are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, and the signing of Jorginho was made in the January transfer window to enhance the North London club’s chances of doing just that.
