
Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Brendan Rodgers missing out on Champions League football for a second season.
On the final day of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester were all fighting for two Champions League spots.
As the day was progressing, the positions were toing and froing, but in the end, Leicester’s defeat against Spurs meant that they will be playing Europa League football next term.
Of course, Liverpool’s win against Crystal Palace ensured that they didn’t have any problems, but Chelsea were beaten at Villa Park only for their neighbours to save their blushes.
Liverpool fans weren’t surprised by Rodgers missing out on the top-four because they are used to the Northern Irishman falling at the final hurdle.
That infamous game against Crystal Palace and failure to win the Premier League trophy just before he was sacked by Liverpool in 2015 will always haunt him.
But it still has to be acknowledged that Rodgers is over-achieving compared to who he is competing with.
Plus, the Foxes did win the FA Cup and that success was acknowledged by some Liverpool supporters.
Nonetheless, whilst Liverpool surged like a train during these last ten or some games, their former manager had to deal with yet another collapse.
