The former Derby County and Leicester City manager is back in work… but not at Birmingham City.

The former Derby County and Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is out of the running to become Birmingham City’s next boss.
Pearson moved into second favourite to succeed Harry Redknapp with Sky Bet on Friday morning, overtaking his Derby replacement Steve McClaren at 11/4.

But the 54-year-old has since been unveiled as the new manager of Belgian second tier side Oud-Heverlee Leuven, who were bought by Leicester’s owners King Power International Group earlier this year.
With Pearson out of the equation, McClaren (3/1) is once again behind Aitor Karanka (2/1) on the list of potential Birmingham appointments.

Steve Cotterill (5/1), Lee Carsley (6/1), Nigel Adkins (10/1) and Alan Pardew (11/1) are the other main contenders, ahead of Gus Poyet and David Moyes (both 20/1).
Birmingham are due to face Pearson’s old side Derby at Pride Park on Saturday, and will be led by another ex-Ram in caretaker boss Carsley.
Notable Leuven players include the former Celtic striker Tony Watt and the on-loan Leicester defender Elliott Moore.
