Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are calling on their club to make another attempt to sign Dominik Szoboszlai in the January transfer window.
Football London reported earlier this month that the Gunners fell behind in the race to sign the 20-year-old attacker during the summer – but that they still want him going forward.
And the Salzburg star himself hardly dissuaded renewed interest from any club by scoring on the big stage on Tuesday.
Szoboszlai, who could cost Arsenal as little as £22 million [Calcio Mercato], fired the Austrian side into a 2-1 lead in last night’s Champions League clash away to Atletico Madrid, though they ultimately lost 3-2.
Scoring on this kind of stage certainly suggests that bigger and better things await the Hungarian starlet.
And here’s how Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to his goal:
If the rumour is true and he’s available for £22 million, it’s a no-brainer for the North London club’s hierarchy.
Then again, scoring in the Champions League brings even more attention and spotlight on the player and Arsenal, simply put, are a Europa League club and have been since 2017.
If they really want this player, they might need to finish in the top four again, which could rule out a January switch.
