Sebastian Larsson has not been able to feature for Sunderland so far this season.
Sebastian Larsson has admitted to the Chronicle that he has found this season very tough so far, as Sunderland’s poor form has made being on the sidelines even more frustrating.
Larsson has not made an appearance for Sunderland so far this term, after undergoing medial ligament surgery in the summer.
The Swede is expected to be out until around the start of 2017, and he admits that this season has been very difficult for him so far.
“It makes it (being injured) worse,” Larsson said.
“It’s hard enough being on the sidelines and getting your head around that, going to the games and supporting the boys when you know you aren’t going to be involved for a while.
“I was jumping up and down – as best I could! – when Jermain [Defoe] made it 2-0 [against Crystal Palace], but then unfortunately it went the wrong way. It makes it harder.
“I am fully focused on my recovery and my rehab, but at the same time I try to get myself as much involved as I can with the lads and help out, push them on and use my experience.”
In Larsson’s absence, Sunderland have struggled to pick up results – with David Moyes’ side’s form poor.
The Black Cats have failed to pick up a victory in any of their first seven Premier League matches, and currently sit rooted to the bottom of the table.
Sunderland only narrowly avoided relegation last season, and there are fears already that they are set for yet another battle against the drop.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on fellow strugglers Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.
