Sunderland have had to endure a woeful first half of their campaign.
During an exclusive interview with the Chronicle, Black Cats midfielder Seb Larsson explained what he believes his side need to do, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of avoiding relegation to the Championship this term.
David Moyes’ men are firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, after a woeful run that has seen them lose six of their last eight league outings.
They are only three points adrift of 17th placed Swansea City, however, so all is not lost just yet for Sunderland.

And Larsson highlighted how important it will be for his side to out-work their opponents, as they look to drag themselves away from trouble, when speaking to the Chronicle:
“It’s going to take a big shift from everyone. We do look at the statistics on physical output and there’s definitely correlation between the games where we’ve had a high physical output and the games where we’ve done better. We need that. We know we’re not going to play all the other teams off the park and hard work is what the fans want to see.”

The Wearsiders face a huge game tomorrow night, when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Stadium of Light, and a win could actually take them outside of the relegation zone.
That will be easier said than done, of course, with Spurs bang in form, and one of the fittest and most hard-working teams in the league.
If Sunderland can match Tottenham’s work-rate at the very least though, they will have every chance of winning the game.
