Sebastian Larsson hopes to see Mikael Lustig leave Celtic in the summer.

Sebastian Larsson has told Swedish outlet Expressen that he would love to see Mikael Lustig leave Celtic for AIK this summer, and insisted that it would be a great move for Swedish football to have the right-back playing in the country.
Lustig’s Parkhead future continues to be up in the air. Expressen reports that the 32-year-old’s deal expires in the summer, and the Hoops have the option to extend his terms by a further year, but AIK are interested in signing the defender.
With Jeremy Toljan arriving on loan in January, it is perhaps fair to suggest that Brendan Rodgers is starting to consider what life after Lustig looks like for the Scottish Premiership champions.
And while Larsson – who returned to Sweden last summer, joining AIK, after spending his entire professional career in England – insisted that he does not know what decision will be made on Lustig’s future, he suggested that he wants the full-back to join him.

“I don’t know exactly how his situation looks at Celtic,” he told Expressen.
“It would be good for all of Sweden and Swedish football if he moved home and then I want him at AIK.”
It would be a big surprise if Rodgers decided to use Lustig as his first-choice right-back next term. Unfortunately, the Hoops hero’s form has dipped in recent times.

Nevertheless, there may be plenty of Celtic supporters who would like to see his contract extended by a year, with a new first-choice option being signed.
Having Lustig in the ranks, but not playing every week, could be the perfect way for Rodgers to use the Swede at this stage of his career.
