The Seattle Seahawks have yet to receive an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House after their Super Bowl LX triumph.
An NFL source who was not authorized to comment publicly said that, as of Wednesday, no invitation had been extended to the Seahawks despite online rumors claiming the team had declined one.
The White House did not respond to multiple requests for comment regarding the situation. Whether an invitation will be issued remains uncertain.
Uncertainty surrounds potential White House visit
According to the Seattle Times, speculation that the Seattle Seahawks turned down a White House celebration appears unfounded, with league sources indicating no formal offer has been made.
The lack of clarity has raised questions about whether the customary championship visit will occur.
For generations, U.S. presidents have welcomed championship teams to the White House as part of a post-title tradition.
That practice, however, encountered friction during Trump’s first term amid broader political tensions involving professional athletes.
Past tensions have complicated the tradition
In 2018, President Donald Trump withdrew an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles after several players signaled they would not attend following their Super Bowl victory.
During the same period, the Seattle Storm announced they would not participate in a White House visit after winning their WNBA championship.
“It doesn’t feel exciting. Nobody wants to go. It’s totally changed, and that’s disappointing because it used to be something that most athletes looked forward to,” Storm guard Sue Bird said at the time.
Although Trump later hosted the Eagles after their 2025 Super Bowl win during his second administration, the Seahawks are still awaiting confirmation of any White House invitation following their Super Bowl LX success.
