Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Carlo Ancelotti said he isn’t looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Jordan Pickford.
The Liverpool Echo quote the Toffees boss as saying: ‘He has my total confidence. We are not looking for this (a new keeper).
The England international has been in the spotlight recently after committing two errors in the 5-2 win over Fleetwood on Wednesday.
Pickford’s poor clearance allowed Mark Duffy to slot into an empty net, after the Toffees No.1 was closed down by two Fleetwood players.
Then, Callum Camps scored the second for Joey Barton’s side with an overhead kick which was straight at the 26-year-old, but the ball was softly parried over the line rather than pushed to safety.
There are obviously some positives to Pickford’s game. He wouldn’t be Gareth Southgate’s first choice, nor would he have cost £30 million if there weren’t any.
However, he needs to rediscover some semblance of form.

For a while now, the ex-Sunderland glovesman has been shaky – it wasn’t just against Fleetwood.
His slip-up in the dying seconds of the Merseyside derby in 2018 remains the most high-profile error.
He should’ve just tipped the ball over the bar, but instead tried to catch it before Divock Origi nodded home to secure the win.

As aforesaid though, there’s a player in there somewhere.
Ancelotti has enough experience to know whether or not Pickford is worth backing, and it is refreshing to see the Toffees boss come out and publicly defend his shot-stopper.
Let’s see what the Everton fans on Twitter have been saying about the Italian’s comments…
