Sean O’Malley is open to getting involved in the new venture started by the UFC president.
The former bantamweight champion is gearing up for an important fight as he looks to work his way back into title contention at 135 pounds.
Suga’s, who is coming off two consecutive losses to Merab Dvalishvili, will take on Song Yadong at UFC 324. That bout has been moved up to co-main event status after Kayla Harrison vs Amanda Nunes was postponed.
With that date fast approaching, O’Malley’s focus is locked on his return to the Octagon and reclaiming the belt he once held. But he might also be paying attention to a different event set for Friday, as he thinks about a possible move into crossover events in the future.
Sean O’Malley open to competing in Zuffa Boxing

Before the focus shifts fully to UFC 324 at T-Mobile Arena, Dana White will be keeping an eye on the launch of Zuffa Boxing.
The promotion is aiming to make an impact in the boxing world, starting with a debut card this Friday headlined by Callum Walsh vs. Carlos Ocampo at the UFC Apex.
Despite Dana White’s well-documented reluctance towards MMA fighters making the jump to boxing, O’Malley sees himself headlining a Zuffa Boxing event in the future.
Speaking on the Kairouz Bros YouTube channel, O’Malley said: “Absolutely, I would love to.
“I feel like I will headline a Zuffa Boxing (card) someday. I haven’t talked to the UFC about that ever – I actually have and they said no. They were like, ‘Nah, we’re not doing that.’
“I feel like there will be a time when the UFC guys are heading over to Zuffa Boxing. I just feel like there’s interesting matchups,” he added.
“I would like to headline a Zuffa Boxing (card) someday against a real professional boxer.”
O’Malley faces an uphill battle after White’s comments
‘Suga’ will need to be persuasive if he hopes to get his wish.
White has already spoken about the possibility of UFC fighters making the switch to Zuffa Boxing, and he made it clear he is not interested in the idea.
“I didn’t want that when I wasn’t involved in boxing, and I definitely don’t want it now,” White said during the press conference ahead of Friday’s promotional debut.
