Everton and Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
It has been reported that Everton are planning to make a bid for Newcastle midfielder Longstaff in January.
Championship club Nottingham Forest are also interested in the 24-year-old and are looking into a loan deal.
What should Sean Longstaff do?
Longstaff is struggling for playing time at Newcastle at the moment.
The 24-year-old, who earns £23,000 per week (Salary Sport), has made eight starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
The midfielder has scored one goal in those games.
During the 2020-21 campaign, the Newcastle no. 36 made 15 starts and seven substitute appearances in the league, providing one assist in the process.
Everton manager Rafael Benitez knows Longstaff from his time at Newcastle.
Benitez clearly rates the midfielder highly.
So, in our opinion, if Longstaff has the chance to move to Everton, then he should seriously look into it.
A loan move to Forest could be beneficial as well, but the Reds are in the Championship.
After all, leaving a Premier League club for a team in the Championship even on loan is a step down.
