Everton are interested in signing Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.

It has been reported that Longstaff has one year left on his current contract at Newcastle.

The report has added that a move from the Magpies to the Toffees and playing under former Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez at Everton ‘could materialise’.

Leaving Newcastle for Everton

Longstaff is a very talented and promising young midfielder who played under Benitez at Newcastle.

The former Liverpool manager knows what the 23-year-old is capable of and what he can do.

Longstaff has been on the books of Newcastle his entire professional club football career so far.

However, the youngster is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.

Longstaff has made a total of 54 appearances in the Premier League, scoring two goals in the process.

The midfielder made 15 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Steve Bruce’s side last season.

The 23-year-old flourished under Benitez at Newcastle, and a move to Everton to work with the Spaniard could appeal to him.

Whether or not Newcastle will sell Longstaff this summer remains to be seen.
