Newcastle United need to have given Sean Longstaff assurances of game time.

Sean Longstaff could be making a mistake by penning a new Newcastle United contract, unless he has been offered assurances by Rafael Benitez.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park in recent times, but seems to want to stay in the North East.
However, sticking with Newcastle could be an error for Longstaff, unless he is given game time.
Benitez blocked Longstaff from moving out on loan in the summer, but he has barely featured for the Magpies this term.

it is hard to see how the central midfielder has benefitted from playing under-23 football again, after proving a major threat in League Two on a loan spell with Blackpool last term.
And unless Benitez has promised Longstaff that he can play regularly at Newcastle, or head out on loan, committing his future may not actually be the best move for the 20-year-old development.
