Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff caught the eye after breaking into Rafael Benitez’s first-team.

Longstaff broke into Newcastle’s first-team and seriously impressed midway through the campaign.
However, the central midfielder damaged his knee, just as things were getting going for him at St. James’ Park.
And Longstaff said: “I’m back running a kicking the ball for the first time since the injury, so that’s massive.
“It’s tough being out for so long – it was my first proper injury on the back of the best two months of my life, so far was pretty horrible to be honest.
“But, looking forward, you’ve just got to try and get your head around it as quickly as possible and start setting yourself little targets.
“Now I’ve hit one of them – I’m backing running and kicking the ball. It’s given me the confidence to keep going.”

Longstaff may well have done enough even during his brief time in Newcastle’s first-team to be considered a key player for them next season.
The 21-year-old appears to have forced his way right up the selection order at Newcastle, and Rafael Benitez’s side could be left without many options in central midfield.
Doubts remain over the futures of Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame and Isaac Hayden, which could leave Longstaff as one of Newcastle’s best options in midfield.
