Sean Dyche has stated that Aaron Lennon will be ‘pleased’ that he will be returning to Leeds in Burnley colours on Sunday, as he told his pre-match press conference.
The Burnley boss added that Lennon, who scored at Old Trafford in midweek, will also be pleased with how his career has gone since leaving Elland Road in 2005.
The 34-year-old began his career in the colours of the Yorkshire giants and, for the first time, he will face a packed-out Elland Road crowd since he left nearly 20 years ago.
Dyche was asked about Lennon’s performances recently and returning to where it all began in his footballing life.
“He hasn’t been playing regularly, as in starting,” said Dyche. “He put a lot of effort into his performance (against Manchester United) and played very well.
“We knew he could do a job in there (as a number ten). We have known that from his past. We liked what we have seen from him in training.
“But him going back to the club where he made his early name. I am sure he will be pleased with that and how his career has gone since then and where it is now.”

Given Leeds’ struggles of late, especially in the injury department, they could do with a player of Lennon’s ilk travelling down their flanks.
But after producing a positive display during his side’s defeat against Manchester United last time out, he will be looking for those all-important three points in a few hours time.
Whilst the result of today’s game will provide huge confidence to whichever team wins, you just get the feeling that come May, both teams will be still be fighting it out for survival.
Leeds have injury woes and they can’t stop conceding, whilst Burnley just can’t seem to find any rhythm and form.
